How Do I Find a Periodical at U.D.?
- Is the periodical title available at Roesch Library?
- Connect to the UD Online Catalog, and click on Periodical Title.
- Type in the periodical title you are looking for.
- If the Library owns that title, the Online Catalog will indicate its location and dates.
- Begin searching the UD Online Catalog.
- Can I tell if the library has a periodical title from an OhioLINK Research Database?
- From any of the library pages, select the Databases tab that appears on the left side of the page.
- Once you have chosen a database, enter your search terms.
- Select a record, then click on Check Availability.
- A new browser window opens. Within that window, click on the periodical title. If there is more than one choice, you may have to examine each record.
- The next screen will indicate the name of the periodical, and show a link that says something like "20 OhioLINK libraries have this item."
- Click on that link, and see if UD subscribes to the periodical title.
- If it does, click on the University of Dayton link to see its location and dates.
- If a periodical title is not available from Roesch Library, current UD students, faculty or staff may request an article from that periodical. This service is called Interlibrary Loan and is provided at no cost to you.
- Connect to Interlibrary Loan.
- Fill out the article request form. The article will be mailed to you in about 10 working days.
- You may also request an Interlibrary Loan via a form available at the Reference or Circulation Desk.
- Is the periodical title available from another local library?
- Search other library's catalogs to determine if they have the periodical.
- Connect to Library Catalogs to begin your search.
If you need assistance, ask at the Reference Desk
or call 229-4270 or use the E-mail reference service.
