Q: How can I renew books?
Renewals may be done in person or by telephoning the Circulation desk
at (937) 229-4234.
You can also renew books yourself on the
Library Web site.
From the homepage, enter the catalog and use the dropdown box marked “Your Library Info.”
After you type in your name and password, you will be able to see what materials you have
checked out. Mark off the items you wish to renew and use the appropriate RENEW button.
Borrowed books, except those from special collections, may be renewed for one consecutive
period of time, unless there is a hold on them. OhioLINK books may be renewed up to four consecutive periods of time, unless there is a hold on the item. OhioLINK AV materials are non-renewable.
Q: What if the Library does not own a book I need?
If you are a UD student, faculty, staff member or alumnus, you may use the OhioLINK catalog to request a book from another OhioLINK member institution. Call 229-4270 for assistance with this process.
If you do not find the book in the OhioLINK catalog, UD students, faculty and staff may go to the circulation desk and request an interlibrary loan form. Law students must place their requests through the Law Library.
Alumni and community patrons should contact their local public library and request and interlibrary loan.
Q: How can I see what materials I have checked out?
You may view your own record by using the UD online catalog.
From the homepage, enter the catalog and use the dropdown box marked “Your Library Info.”
Select the VIEW (your own record) option from the library menu. Here, you can see how many books are checked out, the due dates,
fines, and the status of OhioLINK requests.
Q: How do I know when my OhioLINK books have arrived?
You can tell when materials have arrived by using the UD online catalog.
From the homepage, enter the catalog and use the dropdown box marked “Your Library Info.” Select the VIEW (your own record) option from the library menu. Follow the Requests (holds) outstanding link to view a list of items.
The Status box tracks the steps it takes to get an item. When an item has been ordered, the Status will say, "REQUESTED." After the lending
library sends the item on its way, the Status will read "IN TRANSIT." When the item reaches Roesch Library, the Status box will change to
"OHIOLINK REQUEST RECEIVED." When you see this message, you can check out the book.
Q: What does "OHIOLINK RETURNED" on my record mean? I already returned the book?
That message remains until an OhioLINK item is returned to the library which owns the book.
