The replacement cost for a lost book is determined by the current price from Books-in-Print plus a processing fee of $15.00. If the book is no longer available, a fee of $50.00 will be charged ($35.00 plus $15.00 processing fee).

The processing fee is used to offset the cost of searching, purchasing, cataloging, and labeling the replacement copy. Books are not ordered immediately when the system shows a lost status. The titles of the lost books are given to the appropriate subject selector who makes the determination about which books to replace.
