Collection consists of eighty-five
scrapbooks received via Information Services (predecessor of University
Communications). Eighty volumes (1906-77) were microfilmed in 1982. Five
(early, less organized) volumes were not microfilmed. Emphasis throughout is
heavily on sports and sports figures, but even those scrapbooks devoted mainly
to sports frequently include some other articles (e.g., obituaries of students
or faculty, dedication ceremonies, military or Marianist visitors, Holy Name
rallies, wedding announcements, speakers on campus, faculty and administrative
appointments, commencements, musical or dramatic presentations, etc.). Volume
14 is a compilation of articles related to the Albert Emanuel Library, Albert and
Victor Emanuel; Volume 15 also contains some Emanuel information. Scrapbooks
designated as "Academic" contain miscellaneous articles on students
and alumni, their activities, achievements, etc. See box lists for general
overview and microfilm indications.
