5BF Office Files (1) College of Women Materials(1935-60)-- Materials regarding women/coeducation at UD. These materials had been in the files of Ms. Margaret Holland (Dean of Women, 1966; Dean of Students, 1969; Vice-President for Student Development, 1973-84); she passed them to Ellie Kurtz (Director, Kennedy Union) for 50th anniversary of coeducation preparations. Ms. Kurtz then gave them to the Archives in March of 1985. Includes: scrapbook with newspaper clippings, photos, etc. from first years; chronicles (1935-38) kept by Sr. Marie Saint Eleanor(first Dean of Women); materials and correspondence related to the Silver Anniversary of Coeducation at UD (Ms. R. Kathleen Whetro, first lay Dean of Women; 1951-65); materials related to May Queens and womens' groups; Glamour magazine articles on UD's Elizabeth Fleming.

(1) Omega (1938-85)-- Memorabilia from Omega Sorority (the first UD sorority). These items were brought to the archives by Julie Sunkes (9-85: when the Omega Sorority "went national" and changed its name/emblem) and Betsy McFarland (11-86: when it was discovered that more Omega materials were still in the basement of the sorority house). See inventory list (included with "box lists" in Archives Office) for contents and locations of this collection.

(2) Gamma Gamma Kappa(1962-86)/ Phi Sigma Sigma (1986-87) -- GGK sorority was founded in 1962. In 1986, the sorority went national to Phi Sigma Sigma, but in September of 1987, the chapter closed completely. (The sorority intends to re-colonize in the spring of 1989). Various photographs and items of memorabilia were deposited with the University Archives (some temporarily) in the fall of 1987. See Inventory List (included with "box lists" in Archives Office) for contents and locations of this collection.

Students and the New Student Orientation Program Director are involved in the preparation and distribution.
