(1) Paul Lawrence Dunbar Centennial-- Announcements of and correspondence pertaining to the Centennial Celebration in honor of Paul Lawrence Dunbar, sponsored by the Dept. of English, the Institute for Christian Renewal, the Center for Afro-American Studies, the Dayton Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council, held Oct. 19-21, 1972. Herbert Woodward Martin was the initiator and organizer of the celebration.
(2) Office Files 1963-72-- Office records created during Dr. B.J. Bedard's tenure. Includes minutes of meetings and committee appointments. Files are incomplete.

(2) Summer Institute-- Proposals and final reports of the Summer
Institutes given by the History Department 1965-69. These Institutes were the result of
grants from the federal government under the National Defense Education Act in 1965, 1966,
1967, and 1968; and the Education Professions Development Act in 1969. Received from the
History Department in 1978.
(3) Office files to 1967-- Correspondence of department head Dr. Wilfred Steiner with various campus offices, including Presidents Renneker, Seebold, and Roesch, dean Mann of Arts & Sciences, graduate deans, vice- presidents, Provosts Stanley and Lee; Dr. Samuel E. Flook, a benefactor; and others. To December, 1967. Received from the history department, November 1978.

(1) National Mathematics Honor Society-- Materials related to the National Mathematics Honor Society of Secondary Schools, an organization founded in 1945 at the University of Dayton )Mathematics Department) and governed by a board consisting of math faculty and alumni. Includes copies of: Handbook, Annual Bulletin, a newsletter (The Mathescope) along with some other miscellaneous items. Also in the possession of the Archives are: the original Constitution of the N.M.H.S. of S.S., a large decorative ceremonial and a bound folder with sample charters for member schools (rm 315). Most of these materials came to the Archives via Richard E. Peterson (Assistant Dean of Arts and Sciences, member of Mathematics Department).

(2) 1966-67 Doctoral Controversy-- Folder contains clippings (from various newspapers)dealing with the philosophy department's doctrinal dispute in which Professor Dennis Bonnette and others accused four members of the department of teaching doctrines contrary to the Catholic Church's magisterium. Also, statements by Fr. Raymond Roesch, S.M. and the President's Ad Hoc Committee for the Study of Academic Free Freedom at the University of Dayton.

(1) Concerts and Recitals -- Collection of Programs from concerts
and recitals (orchestral, vocal; faculty, student, etc.) sponsored wholly or in part by
the Music Division of the Department of Performing and Visual Arts. The bulk of this
collection was received from Richard Benedum, D.M.A., Chairman of the Music Division:
Programs from 1953 through 1984 (Those from 1978-79 are missing). These is one folder with
miscellaneous programs from before 1953, received from various sources. Collection
includes some materials from the University Arts Series, "Red and Blue Varieties,
Marching Band, Christmas on Campus. There is a copy of a letter from Edward Kennedy on the
occasion of a John F. Kennedy Memorial Concert (November 22, 1968).
(2) Workshops, symposiums, etc.-- Materials related to workshops,
symposiums, etc. sponsored or co-sponsored by the Music Division at the University of
Dayton. Included are: Froberger Symposium (brochure, photographs, report article, cassette
tapes); Midwest Historical Keyboard Society-3rd Annual Meeting (April 2-4, 1987); Liszt
Centennial Festival (five events: Oct. 26 to Nov. 23, 1986).
